Welcome to www.Alyssa-Leigh.com!

Alyssa's website is always a work in progress. Every now and then, I try to make it a
little better. A little more girly for her. She loves purple and pink so I always try to
incorporate it on her theme. However, I would like it to be more girly than child-like blog.
I am also making it a point to update it if not everyday, maybe couple of times a week.
I will also be uploading her photos. Something I haven't done in a long time...

First Day at School

Today is my first day at Chez Grand’mere. Mommy woke me up at 5:15, put my clothes on and fix my hair up. I know she’s been dreading for this day to come, but it finally did. I didn’t know what to expect at first. When we got there, daylight was just breaking. There were two older girls having breakfast. I joined them on the table.  I was doing good and getting comfortable already but Mommy just cannot leave. After 15 minutes, they finally left.

Daddy called at 8:00 to check on me. School is fun and I made friends with lots of girls. Mommy will pick me up later today. I can’t wait to tell her all my stories about how school was!

Off to Preschool in Three Days

Instead of Alyssa starting preschool on the 22nd, we have to move the schedule one week forward. I found out that Ate Raquel and Tatay will be staying with my other sister-in-law in Stanton one week before they go home to the Philippines. Terri, the Director of the school agreed for Alyssa to stay for 30 minutes at Chez Grand’mere (French for Granny’s House) on Monday to get used to the environment before we drop her off on Tuesday. I hope she will do good. You see, it will be the first time that we will leave her to complete strangers and I am a little skeptical. Not because I don’t trust the teachers but more because I am kind of scared for her. I feel sorry too that she has to go to school this early… I wish my Mom is here to take care of her.

They say there is a first time for everything… and in order for her to learn and grow, I have to let her go. It is all for the best. Being the only kid at home, she can be a brat. No, I don’t spoil her. But because she knows she can ran to someone else when I try to give her a time out is not much of a help. AGAIN, I am NOT blaming anybody else as a matter of fact I NEVER said it is anybody’s fault. To clarify things (even if you go back to my blog), I clearly wrote that: Alyssa behaves 100 times better with us. And that is the absolute truth. BECAUSE: 1. She knows whatever my decision is, it will Rolly’s too. So she cannot really run to him about something that I already did not agree on. 2. Because I am firm and she knows she does not have a choice but to follow.

And yeah, it is all natural that as a parent you get upset about words you hear. But I am not the type that would negate others instantly. I always try to retain a cool and calm composure, and I am good in masking what I feel. And though I don’t agree with what is being said, I rarely make any comments. I would not waste any of my time to even address it unless I feel it is necessary, or when I get pushed too hard. As I said, Alyssa is my business. She is not anybody’s daughter, she is mine. And I make decisions that will benefit her and not the other way around. That’s what parents are supposed to do. And I am blessed to have been given the best Mom and Dad myself. They’ve always been protective and loving, supportive and providing…

By the end of next week, I will introducing the new Alyssa. She will start learning more about life and friends and I know the first few days will be just too much for her. I wish I can be there inside her class, then again how can she start being independent. For now, I am just glad I work two blocks away from the center… It makes things better.

Update

Ok, it’s been a while since I wrote something here. Been too busy with work and so occupied during weekends. Alyssa is doing great. Has great imagination too. She thinks Astro Boy is her boyfriend, and wants to get married when she gets a job. She is very funny. She also has this other imaginary friend name Jake and a fallback boyfriend Diego (Dora’s cousin).

She is into names too. She calls herself Nikki. She thinks it is a cute name. She calls me Mommy Dolphin, Mommy Astro – Mommy Everything. Yup, she still drinks milk. Adobo is her favorite ulam, and water is her favorite drink. She knows candy is not good for her teeth too.

So there you go, ‘will have to try to update this website more often. At least, I am done with the adjustment period at work. More learning to go so far but I am just fine…

Growing. Growing. Growing.

Alyssa just suddenly decided to change her name to Nikki. I don’t even know how she came up with the name but it started when I wen to my physical and she was playing with Rolly. When I came out, of the hospital she has picked the Nikki from out of the blue. So, we’re calling her that…

She is growing up fast. Gosh now that she talks, it is never ending. She says phrases and words I’ve never heard before. She would say: “I have to get a job because I’m going to get married!” At three, she amazes me. She has this wild and huge imagination. She sometimes think she’s Hannah Montana with her guitar. She dresses up and would say: “I am on a fashion show.” When we bought her a Happy Meal at McDonald’s, she chose the Astro Boy toy. She misplaced it some days ago so now she tells us: “Astro Boy broke my heart. He flew away”, the pretends to be crying. She’s a drama queen…

Of course, my units in Child Psychology tells about this phase in a toddler’s life. It is a part of discovering who they are as they grow older. They indeed say the darnest things! At the end, I always make sure that she knows it’s ok to have a big imagination but it is always great to know the real world little by little as early as three…
